The Akashic Records

It all started off with the discovery of a new forgotten ruin. The idea of finding new treasures and becoming famous attracted the attention of several adventurers who are forced to band together against the dangerous monsters and booby traps. When they reached the inner depths of the ruin, they found only a single piece of crystal. As one of them picked it up, he suddenly had visions of the future, a future where the entire world was destroyed, and it didn't appear as if this future wasn't too far off.

The crystal shard they found turned out to be a piece of an object connected to the omniscient Akashic Records, a vast wealth of information about everything, including a way to prevent the upcoming Armageddon. However, that one shard alone is not enough to discover it. Together, they must travel the world in search of the other shards in order to discover the way to save their future.


Setting: The story takes place in a world that is halfway between fantasy and technilogical. As a whole the world seems pretty stable, though there may be some countries with internal strife or may be on unfriendly terms with another, but for general atmosphere, people live happy normal lives. Middle class life can take place in either rural, medieval villages or technological cities much like our own (think of Final Fantasy IX or XII)

There are still room for some dark elements however. Evil kings, magic mafia, ancient evils, all of these and more are possible.

Pace and Plot: The main plot is to find the crystal shards linking to the Akashic Records. Each shard contains information about abilities, classes, etc. Also, each shard has magical abilities or their own, such as being able to power a magi-tech weapon capable of mass destruction, etc. The cause of the Apocalypse which motivates the players will be gradually revealed as each new shard is obtained. Players can add to the roleplay 'mini arcs' in which they can control what happens to the group and advance their plot, but first they have to ask permission from the others, as well as promise to lead and carry out the arc for the entire duration, otherwise the RP leaders will be forced to find some way to end the arc early and get things back on track.

Concerning Summoners, there are only one of each summon available, so no Bahamut vs. Bahamut battle. A summon spirit can only be summoned by the approved summoner, so the only way to obtain the other summon is to either get the Summon to agree to change owners, or defeat the owner themselves.

I may request you guys to add some town names so that we can fill in the blanks on where to go with the map. Because, if we don't get specific information, then, this map would become pointless if we walk into a random town and never have anyone coexist with one another. Just a thought. Anyway, I'll keep this thread open and if any of you have any suggestions, don't hesitate to post.

I have a question... Are Moogles, Vera, and those types of races allowed in the roleplay? Or are we assuming that this is purely human?
