S. Revolt: The Return of the Society Arc II: Invasion of Chaos

Just then Matt Shouted as he saw Aran's D-wheel in the distance

'' What do you think you're doing !? Riding off like that! ''

As soon as Matt said that his D-wheel caught up to Aran's.

'' Well?! Why are you out here randomly anyway?''

''Hmm....I wonder what this guy has up his sleeves at the moment...'' Matt thought curiously.

James smiled as he picked the now jet black duel disk, " You work fast nash...and for the question of who to use it on, well she has a duel disk already so I have a small plan of how to get it off. Hope you know how to duel Nash." Jack tucked the duel disk under his arm as he headed for door.

"Lilacs," Jess said absentmindedly as the aroma hit her nose. Her mind was completely set on killing the rest of the robots as she raised her duel disk again....

Rune looked at her oddly and waved his hand in Jess's face, ''Helllllooooo?! Are you ignoring?..'' he watched her raise her duel disk and looked behind him, ''Hey girl.. I cut the robots to bits what are you doing?'' he gently shook her to see if she would snap out of her daze, ''Common, wake up. Ugh.''

Feeling Rune shake her, Jess suddenly pushed Rune while taking his sword. Still feeling extremely bitter at losing her target she began to talk while she pointed Rune's sword at him, "I will warn you once and only once: I'll allow you to come with me but I won't stand for it if you get between me and my brother." As Jess began to walk away she slammed Runes blade into the wall with amazing strength for someone of her build. She then went off down a hallway, following the aroma of lilacs.

Quickly Nash chased after Jack after hearing his message, worried and fearful about his project

"Wait what, what do you plan to do Jack" said Nash, "you better not show them my lab, I still have unfinished work in here!!!"

Getting even closer to Jack finally Nash grabbed his shoulder

"I demand you tell me what you plan to do, I must protect my project they must not Reach It Understand me!!!"

Seeing as Jack continued to ignore him Nash dropped down to his knee in fret and hopelessness until...

"Warning Dr. Nash" said the system, "Most of the robots and guards of this floor have been taken care of"

"hmm this isn't good at all, once they get what they are looking for they will destroy my project!!" thought Nash

"Alright computer send all remaining guards and robots to my lab and prepare for lock down mode, we are not letting anyone into my lab to ruin it" said Nash

Nash rushed straight back into his lab thinking, "No more distraction it must be completed now"

Quickly he ran straight behind the metalic doors until they were firmly shut

"Run Lock Down program NOW!!!" shouted Nash

"Yes sir" said the computer

Suddenly red lights and a horn blared out, "WARNING LOCK DOWN SYSTEM OCCURING"

Metallic doors started to be shut and reinforced with another metal layer

"As long as they dont know the access code and input it into the central computer they will never unlock my lock down, now I must finish it, I MUST!" said Nash

''Pfft. Touchy girl.'' he muttered under his breath, actions like that were one of the main reason Rune tryed not to get close to other people. Rune started to think as he walked over to the wall and jerked his sword out of it, ''Is she really planing to kill her brother?.. I wont let her do something like that. I got to follow her..'' Rune started to follow Jess around the halls, ''Wonder if she knows where shes going.. Hmm.. Maybe I'll call Kaname to tell him whats going on.''

Rune pulled out his COM-link and stoped in one of the halls, still watching Jess. Rune hit a couple of numbers on the COM-link and it lit up, ''Yo.. Kaname its Rune, Jess is starting to freak me out.. I think shes really going to kill this guy if she finds her..'' he leaned on the wall and the red alarm went off, ''Crap..'' he said as he waited for a responce from Kaname.

Kaname Reeve, and Souji were running down the hall when suddenly an explosion was heard throughout the sub-base the ground shook almost knocking the trio off of their feet and onto the ground. Luckily they had maintained their balance. A loud alarm had been signaled immediatly after the shockwaves from the explosion had stopped. A computer's voice came through loudspeakers and announced.

"Attention all Guards! Attention all Guards! Initiating LOCK-DOWN mode! 10, 9, 8, 7, 6." Kaname turned to the other two and said with a hurried look. "Tch, of all the things that could possibly happen in this base, this might of been the worst. I can see three pathways in this hall. I'll take the one where it's closest to the sound of the explosion! You two can decide for yourselves who gets what hallway now!.."

He had then noticed his COM-Link was going off. "At a time like this?!" He pulled it out and he had a message from Rune. "Damn girl, I knew she'd be trouble on this mission. I hope everything's allright with those two." He sent a message back to Rune as quickly as possible. "Rune! Keep her out of trouble the best you can, I'm in a predicament myself here I'll try and locate you as soon as I can. Kaname~"

His voice faded as he ran down the hall. He was getting closer and closer to where the explosion had happened, he stopped at an intersection and could here some guards coming from one direction. He decided to take to other direction. The hallway he chose was dark and cold. He could see metal bars and hear chains rattling. He stopped for a minute relizing that the unsuspecting guards had passed him. He then turned to the bars and noticed that the dark hallway was being used as a prision! Inside he could see a man who looked familliar. He peered in even more and asked .

"Who's in there?"

Rune sighed as he got the reply from Kaname, ''God this mission is starting to frigen annoy me..'' he stuffed the COM-link back into his pocket and pushed himself off the wall. He looked around the conner to see if he could see Jess, ''Shit, where did she go!'' he looked around and thought to himself, ''Well this aint good.. I cant let her do this, need to find her fast.'' Rune spun his giant sword around and latched it back to his back. Rune started running through the halls, then he heard foot steps from around the conner, ''Crap.'' he wispered to him self as he slid on the ground, he triped into the hallway and a retreating guard found him, ''You thare, get up!'' the guard said pulling out his gun. Rune quicky got up, ''Put your hands where I can see them. Wouldnt want a repeat of what happened to the other guards do we?'' demanded the guard. Rune smirked and put his hands up casualy like he wasnt at all afraid.

It left no chance for retaliation, and almost zero chance of notice, but within the darkness of the unlit hallway the guard emerged from came a hand. The palm was placed firmly over the guard's mouth to prevent him from speaking, and almost just as quickly he was tilted backward. His muffled yells were halted immediately by a switchblade being embedded between the top two vertebrae of his neck, severing the most important nerves. In an instant, the guard was dead, with every organ in his body but his brain for a mere split second unresponsive. The assassin withdrew their knife from the neck, and wiped the blood off onto a dirty rag.

A face and body slowly emerged from the darkness, with lips curled into a genuine, warm smile. It became more and more evident that this was a female. She put away her switchblade into a satchel bag while she approached Rune. Light was reflected off of the person's glasses, which she quickly adjusted. She stood before Rune, her smile unchanged. She was very happy to have seen Rune, and could hardly keep herself from running toward Rune and glomping him; the only thing that stopped her was her usual outside demeanor. She held back slight tears in her eyes, wiping one of them with a finger from under her glasses.

"I'm so glad to see you again," Lorelei said, "and you seem as smug as ever." She said the second half of the sentence with a casual playfulness. Around her neck in the plexiglass protector was a card, but it was not apparent what card it was for its back was facing whoever looked at it. Perhaps it was the one Rune gave to her, but that could hardly matter at this moment! Not only were they reunited, but in such a dangerous predicament, too!

Rune watched the limp body of the guard fall to the ground, dead, ''Well, thats lame I was hoping to have some fun with this..'' he then looked up into the shadow to see who had ''stolen his kill''. Rune watched at the faint shape of a body left the shadows, and formed the figure of a girl, ''Hello thare, and how might be?'' he asked the girl who in his opinion was a gorgeous girl. Then his jaw droped as the girls face became more visable and her voice was so familiar, ''Wa-wait is, is that Lorelei?!'' he pointed at her, ''It is! Its very good to see you again!'' he ran up to her and gave her a big hug then he took a good look at her, ''Well, you seem alot differnt from last time we met.'' he said as he looked at her wide eyed.

Lorelei was suddenly shocked by the feeling of being hugged by her childhood friend. On one hand, she was very happy on the inside and desperately wanted - perhaps even needed - the hug, but on the other hand thought it might ruin her pride. So, she decided to undo the cork to her emotional bottle and returned the hug just as well. She placed her face on Rune's shoulder, shutting her eyes to stop from tearing.

"Y-Yeah, I've gone through a lot of changes..." Lorelei wanted to hug Rune for who knows how much longer, and could hardly bring herself to let go. After they had snuggled for a moment, Lorelei finally said, "It's good to see you again, but we have other problems to face. We can catch up later, because both of us are going to get out of this situation alive and well." Lorelei held her head back, looking at Rune in the eyes, and she still could hardly keep from crying. Her glasses had gotten wet from maybe one or two tears forcing themselves out despite Lorelei's attempts to suppress them. She followed up her sentence with the single word...

"Right?" She gave Rune her warm smile again as they continued to embrace.

Rune smiled at her and rubbed his head, ''Hehe, yeah, right now I have a small problem on my hands.'' he said as he noticed the tears fall from her face, he didnt want to seem to formal with her since its bin so long that they have seen each other, ''I need to find another Resistance member and stop her from doing something she might regret, damn that girl..'' his expression got more serious as he looked down the hall, ''Well.. wanna help me look? She should be easy to find.. You cant miss her she has a big scar on her face.. And i can only guess that her brother is in the lab we are suppost to be finding, if her brother is here that is..'' Rune looked around again to see if thare were any guards comming, then looked back at Lorelei and smiled again, ''Shall we?''

Aran saw Matt close in on him as he thought that Matt was here to stay...

"Damn he's gonna slow me down..."

Aran didn't take his eyes off his path as he replied to Matt with a blunt tone.

"I have some more important matters to attend to, Matt. You'll have to wait."

Aran revved his engine sharply causing his Runner to jolt foward and accelerate at an alarming rate.

"What the hell does Matt have against me anyways? Me and him have nothing to do with one another and I've never seen him before so why does he insist on chasing me?"

Aran was too focused to deal with Matt Aran decided as he attempted to outspeed him.

Lorelei approached the deceased guard, taking note of the magnificent, high-quality rifle he was carrying on his person. With her boot, she slid her foot under the rifle, and kicked it up, catching it vertically with but one hand. She put it around her torso with the strap, feeling that the firearm may come in handy later, despite how much she did not want to have to use a weapon unless saving someone.

"Yeah, I'll help. I owe you a lot, anyway." Lorelei placed her hand on the plexiglass case hanging from her neck, and turned it around between her index and thumb, revealing the card he gave her. "I've been looking all over for a copy of this card," she said, approaching Rune again. She glanced down each hallway at the intersection they were at, then looked back at Rune with an acception of curiosity.

"So, do we split up or what? COM-Links don't seem to be working in here." She would await whatever Rune told her, and without question follow it like an order from an absolute ruler. Her friend was that important to her, and she'd do anything for him save jumping off a bridge. She did not want to have to split up with her friend so quickly, however, and thus felt rather stupid for giving Rune the choice. She hoped he wouldn't say "split up" or any variation thereof.

'' Trying to get away eh...?''

Matt chuckled as he then activated the Auto Riding Duel system.

'' Let's see.. if you can get by me in this Riding Duel I'll let you go freely...if I turn out to be the winner, you tell me what's up deal?''

Matt reved up his engine to meet up with Aran's D-Wheel.

Rune watched as she kicked the gun into her hand, ''Wow, thats impressive.'' he said in awe, he begane to think remebering that he was lost in the gaint base, ''Tch, damn.'' he thought to himself. ''I dont see any reason to why we should split up, she couldnt have gone far.'' he said as he started to walk again, ''I wonder if the card that the guard gave me can get me thought to lock down.'' he thought to himself again. Rune waved Lorelei to follow him as he walked aimlessly deeper into the Sub-base. ''So hows life bin to you lately?'' he asked as they were walking.

"I can't say it's been good," Lorelei said, "which is part of the reason I'm here." Her hands balled into fists with whitening knuckles as they walked. She stared straight at the ground to hide the expression on her face, "My parents got arrested by the Society and I'm trying to find out what happened to them. For all I know, they could have been executed. I wanted to join the resistance to make sure this kind of oppression affects no-one else." Lorelei lifted her head and stared at the card around her neck as they walked. She began to reminisce on the past, thinking what led to her possessing this card.

"Rune," she said, "do you remember those bullies from middle school? And the one I beat in a duel? The Society is run by bullies not much different from them, and I hope to make the outcome just the same as before. I probably won't get my wish, but I'm still not going to see anyone suffer from their tyranny." She had almost completely forgotten what their task was: to find a girl with a large scar on her face. Lorelei was so busy digging up the past that she had almost forgotten all about the issue. It was only until she looked at Rune again from the side that she remembered they had a task, and then what that task was. She reached her hand over and lightly tapped Rune's, taking his hand into her's.

"How about you?" she asked as she observed for the girl named "Jess," with mostly unfruitful results.

Aran saw that his Runner was switched to Duel Mode from the signal override Matt's D-Wheel had ravaged for parts or not. Aran's eyes glowed a sublime blue in the reflection of the Runner's lights.

"Fine your on. Let's finish this!" Aran said.

"I have to finish this...I don't know how much time I have..."

Aran closed his eyes as he thought of his currrent predicament.

"Matt is going to chase me and if I win, it'll give me the needed speed to burst off and leave him...protecting an ally..."

"Ok Matt your on. But This will have to be quick." Aran agreed having made his mind up entirely.

''Hmm.. Sorry to hear that.'' he said sadly, They countined to walk thought the halls talking to each other, Rune Listening to every thing that Lorelei had to say. ''Ehh.. I have bin better, this mission is prity lame and i desided to babysit this girl, and she desides to go crazy and ditch me, ugh. Well, other then that, Its bin good.'' he said ''Just wish your life could have bin better.'' he thought.

Jack had been wandering the halls for a while now searching for the right place to enact his plan. "This is gonna be great...She always loses herself when shes focused on something", Jack smiled as he spotted the mess hall..there were two guards who had apparently slacked off, Jack knew them. "Hello boys," Jack said as he strolled in.

"Oh uh, Jack.. you're not gonna report us are you". one of the guards said meekly, remembering what had happend to the original special ops leader. “actually you could come in handy..You'll make my goal alot easier..”

Rune and Lorelei continued to walk the hallways then they then spoted someone far down the hall, ''I think thats her.'' he pointed at the girl down the hall. ''Common lets go get her.'' he started to run down the hall with Lorelei, ''Yes, thats her.. God that was bother some.'' and walked up to Jess and grabed her shoulder, ''I thought i told you to stay close? Kaname wanted me to stay close to you, so stop wondering off.'' he said to her.

Jess brushed off runes hand and turned around, she noticed a girl with him but decided she was unimportant. " Look Rune, my alliegence has never been to the resistance, and the society is just a bridge to me. My goal has, and always will be, the death of my brother." Jess said, " I can tell he's around because of this aroma...It may or may not be a trap but thats irrelevant, revenge is my only goal in life. I'll come with you for now ... but if I find anything to indicate he's in the area...

"Geez, what in tarnation is going on around here?" Reeve said as he and his team ran down the hallway. "First that weird message from someone claiming tah be Tabor, and now the place is crawling with Society goons...wait a minute!" Reeve held out his hand to stop the other two for the moment. Peeking around the corner, he spotted two Society members standing guard in front of a door.

"Two of 'em eh?" Reeve muttered as he loaded his gun with new bullets. "Well I dun't wanna cause a ruckus so..." Reeve pointed his gun at the guards and fired a single shot. Instead of hitting any of them, however, he struck the floor in front of them instead. A thick, white cloud of smoke shot out of the bullet. The two guards opened their mouths to cry out in alarm, but coughs came out instead. Within two seconds they suddenly moaned and fell forward, collapsing in an unconscious pile. After another few seconds, the smoke dissolved to a point where it became harmless gas and Reeve was able to walk out without any danger of passing out as well. He paused briefly to search the men for their belongings, coming up with a key card.

"Now lesse what's behind door numbah one shall we?" Reeve swiped the key card through the door's lock. The door beeped and unlocked, allowing them to enter. Inside, they found themselves in what appeared to be a holding facility, and in one of them was...

"James?" Reeve looked at the fellow Resistance member in surprise. "How in Sammy's blue jeans did you get in there? Wait one sec, I'll get you out of there faster than a pickle in a deli bar." Reeve swiped the card through the lock again, but this time it denied him access. "Plan B then." Reeve loaded his gun. The prison door was much sturdier than the door they used to enter with, so he fired another two freeze bullets at the door, causing it to become brittle. "I'd step back if I were you." Reeve warned as he carefully loaded a special bullet, aimed, then pulled the trigger. The resulting force was enough to knock Reeve off his feet, and as the blast struck the door it blew it apart.

James heard commotion outside of his Cell. "What's going on out there?" thought James as he heard footsteps approaching his Cell. "So the time has come eh? I wonder what's going to happen." James stood up and braced himself for the Society Guards he suspected would walk through that door.

Suddenly he saw someone he didn't expect...

"REEVE?! W-What are you doing here? How did you find me? Woah woah what's with the gun man? I- Oh, oh I see, alright I'll back up. The bars on his Cell were shattered "Man you have no idea what it was like in here, I screamed and yelled but nothing happened for a while.
said James as he grabbed his belongings.

James read the message on the COM-Link "Hmm so an invasion huh? Guards? No problem, I'll just sick my Demon Roars on them, alright then let's use that Card Key of yours and finish this." said James pumped up and ready to leave that Cell he was locked up in.

"So Reeve, have ya heard from Tabor?" said James as he and Reeve ran off down the hallway "We kinda lost each other." Just then, James bumped into Kaname.

*THUD* "Ouch, hey watch where ya goin- Kaname?!" said James in pain "Wow guess the whole HQ is here huh? Oh, you're part of this program too? Alright then, where to next?" James, Reeve and Kaname ran down the hallway together to reach the Lab where the D-Wheel was said to be located.
